Oakeshott Type XIV Sword of Italian Provenance

An Italian short sword, circa 1550/60

Broad, double-edged blade, the upper third with fullers on both sides, surrounded by ornamental lines. Struck tower mark on both sides. Flat quillons with rolled up ends. Grip made from dark wood, the grip winding is lost. Flat, vase-shaped pommel with fluted, oval, riveted pommel.

Length 75.5 cm.
