Oliver Cromwell's English Broadsword Oakeshott Type X

Editor's Note: Ewart Oakeshott in his Records of the Medieval Sword explains that the Type X was in use well after the medieval period and in so doing was referring to swords like this one that deviate from the standard "Viking" Type X but which still feature a broad blade with fullering almost to the end of the blade. Length (overall): 38 1/8 inches (96.8 cm) Blade: 32 1/2 × 1 15/16 inches (82.6 × 4.9 cm) Hilt: 5 1/16 × 4 5/8 inches (12.9 × 11.7 cm) Height (pommel): 2 1/8 inches (5.4 cm) Diameter (pommel): 1 5/16 inches (3.3 cm) Weight: 3.1 lb. (1405g)
