Superlative Oakeshott Type XVIa Sword w/Marble Pommel

*Editor's Note: This sword has been ascribed to the 19th Century by Czerny's which is entirely plausible. I however suspect it may be one of those excpetional original pieces like the Edward Sword that, due to its incredible beauty and significance, may have survived the years in relatively good condition. A metallographer would be necessary to say either way, and whether or not Czerny's has already had one test this sword I do not know.

Either way it is a remarkable sword created by truly gifted hands.

Description: Straight, double-edged blade with central fuller featuring the effigy of Passau Wolf and an apple with cross; iron quillon with straight arms with brass edges of lozenge section; large, disc-shaped pommel with a relieved element of red marble at the centre; leather-bound wooden grip.

Dimensions: length 108.5 cm.

Dating: 19th Century
