In excavated condition, with sharply tapering double-edged blade of slightly hollowed flattened diamond section, hilt comprising writhen guard with baluster quillons and writhen button terminals, flat tapering tang, and globular pommel cut with partly chequered spiral grooves 27.3 cm. blade, 38.8 cm. overall Sold for £1,000 inc. premium Provenance: Sotheby's London, 27 November 1931, lot 61 (part).
